DETROIT, Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Two Michigan medical schools will share Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation grants totaling more than $471,000 to implement programs encouraging medical students to work in the state's underserved rural and urban areas.

Wayne State University's School of Medicine will receive $325,000 in two grants over the next three years. The grant money will help recruit more medical students from underserved areas, and cover the expenses of a medical school training rotation for students with rural backgrounds who are interested in choosing to practice family medicine in an underserved rural or urban setting. .
